Reps. Bill Jenkin and Skyler Rude to host 16th District telephone town hall on April 20
Rep. Bill Jenkin, R-Prosser, and Rep. Skyler Rude, R-Walla Walla, are inviting residents of the 16th District to join them Monday, April 20 for a telephone town hall meeting. The community conversation, which is similar to a call-in radio show, will begin at 4:00 p.m. and last one hour. This will be an opportunity for residents to ask questions directly to the lawmakers, while they provide information on COVID-19.
“I know life around our district has drastically changed due to the coronavirus outbreak. One of my main goals right now is to begin the recovery process and reopen our district and state,” said Jenkin. “We need to start reopening businesses that can practice social distancing and create a safe environment. We need to allow you to participate in recreational activities such as fishing, golfing and hiking. We need residential construction to start up again so we can build homes. We need to start identifying those businesses and trades that would positively jump start our way of life. I look forward to speaking with you on the 20th to see how we can achieve these goals together.”
“With all the uncertainty and daily changes due to COVID-19, I want to ensure you have what you need to stay healthy and safeguard against the virus,” said Rude. “My other priorities are to protect our businesses and their ability to rehire when the stay home, stay healthy order is lifted, and to maintain budget stability as we see state revenues sharply decline due to the current economic downtown. I look forward to hearing from you during this call on how we can continue to work together and recover.”
Most residents will receive invitations to participate by phone just before the meeting begins. Those wishing to call in simply need to dial (509) 394-4742 beginning at 4:00 p.m. Once connected, they can listen in and press (*) star on their telephone keypad to ask questions.
